Hello all. Quick post today. In case you didn’t read previously, I visit my Grandma frequently every week, and today was actually her birthday. My family and I took some time off and spent the afternoon with her to make it as enjoyable as possible. Happy Bday!!
When it comes to Viral Status Issue 3. Some format changes have been made, and I’m currently working towards finalizing the idea. Currently there is a photo shoot scheduled for next weekend (sunday) at 11 am. For Specifics on the shoot, how to be apart of it…or just to help out… you can email me at Castro@viralstatus.com.
Hello all. Team V.S. just recently put the wraps on the first video shoot for issue 3. It was a wonderful experience, and an amazing story, surely something we’ll never forget; Not only because of the tragic circumstances, but because we were entrenched in this mans story, reflecting on his struggle, sensing his worry, and feeling his love for his country.
What’s interesting is that during his interview he mentioned a word I made sure to Bold in a previous post. And It’s because of this trait, that he is with us today, and the sole reason the haitian people will unearth from the rubble, and regain consciousness.
Resilience …

Be on the look out for this video interview, as well as the written synopsis of his plight on the next issue of Viral Status Magazine coming this May.
Yeah it’s been a while. School + Work + Life has been like giant hairy monkey weighing down on my back. Conveniently enough the only time I have to do assignments or have “free” time, has been filled with running short errands, or attending inescapable events. Oh well, work hard, play less, work some more, and one day you’ll find yourself where you want to be (and if you don’t at least you won’t live with a huge “what if” over your head right).
This past week I’ve been laying the ground work and started thinking seriously about my production schedule for the next couple weeks. I have a very interesting and engrossing story about haiti from an individual that I’m really excited about, and will most likely be the headline of the entire publication. I also have another individual overseas in Iraq writing an extensive read on her daily routine and accounts. Pressing issues like these will account for the bulk of the next issue. I will also be rebranding this particular edition because of it’s content as to not blur the lines between what we’re doing now and what we’ve done before. I predict this issue will take a bit of a documentary style turn.
Sadly it seems like real life disasters like haiti, or unfortunate circumstances like soldiers abroad become trending topics in the mass media. The news, the internet, and all forms of communication bloat these issues profusely, and although there coverage and attention may be sincere, months later these matters are sort of swept under a rug, and are sparingly brought up again. However there are people still living in those circumstances… everyday. The same tragic problems that you’ve seen on TV, and online it seems have disappeared because their not the headline to your daily news intake. I aim to revisit these two and hopefully more topics and give a different but fresh perspective on the lost issues of yesterday.

Personally, it’s very hard for me to get into new artists. The likely hood of me downloading a random mixtape, giving the entire thing a listen through is very rare. But here is a testament to how marketing yourself the right way can make you reach more people, and make people give you a chance, or in this case ..a listen.
A friend of mine Richard F. (videographer, also Vs issue 2 model) directed and produced the 13th installment of his much followed The Life series on Facebook, and watching that video he had the artist I bring up today Erick Arc Ellioton camera going through a lil interview leading up to a freestyle. Now me thinking I’m gonna hear about whips, louie bags, girls, and money, was a bit floored by what this guy spit…..
…needless to say it was all substance.
It’s very refreshing to hear and suprising at that when so many these days are concerned about creating something overtly catchy then creating art with a message and I applaud Erick for that. His NOIR album is in constant rotation and when I found out tonight his video dropped, I figured it was only right to say my piece.
Here’s his new video for the song “Plane” directed by Christopher Yoon
It’s been out for months so get with it…download the NOIR mixtape
I’ve been evaluating my options about the magazine a lot these past few days, and it’s getting more and more clear that 100% digital is the way to go for VS magazine. The advantages of the digital platform are more than overwhelming then print in regards to sheer level of experience. If done the right way this 3rd issue can be something really special, and hopefully something unique you’ve never quite seen before.
Researching the topic of online magazines I tripped upon this video which made me think there is officially no such thing as an original idea lol. The video below is a testament to that, as it is the idea I had in my mind from top to bottom! Hopefully I can add more than enough V.S. style to distinguish it from this publication.
