Viral Status: Issue 3.

It’s that time again
Hello all, I know it’s been a while since the last post.  Actually “a while” is a bit of an understatement, it’s been a loong time.  To make it more bearable we’ve uploaded a couple videos along the way, But if you know us then you also know that with these periodical lengths of abandonment with our return comes treats for the masses; And trust us…we don’t disappoint.  This summer we bring the first ever video magazine to serve as issue 3.  We’ve been experimenting with different ways in reaching out to you in a more engaging way and here we feel we’ve really created something special for your viewing pleasure.  And best of all, it’s free! This is just a thank you for staying tuned and visiting the site since it’s inception last April. Enjoy, and be sure to leave some feedback.

Hip Hop: The New Breed.

So, I’m cycling through twitter and I find this video. Could this be the new breed to hip hop?  The sound pretty dope to me. Tell me what you think!

Running In My Own Trail > Life and Times: April 14, 2010..

Hello all.  I know it’s been a bit too long since my last post but I’m back with a few updates and pics on what’s going on with me and Viral Status Issue 3.

First off I’d like to say that April marks the 1 year Anniversary since the start of V.S. last year!

It’s covered some ground, but there’s still much more to be done…but consistency is key and I’m happy this project of ours is still going, and growing steadily with each coming issue.  There is a bit of a change since we last started this…It went from being a small 16 pg. magazine (spring 09′), to a more full featured 48pg. magazine (fall/winter 09′), and now with this issue I’m incorporating a video aspect as well as a printed version, so this will be the latest and greatest :-) .

It’s interesting reaching this point in production… looking back a year from now everything seemed a bit impossible to do; But now it’s not about producing and pushing product, but more about looking at what’s already out there and making sure you outdid your last installment.  Almost like a race against yourself, pushing to do better then before.  I think it’s important sometimes to view things that way because often when your overly focused on doing better then someone/something else, you lose sight of your purpose and your reasoning in starting in the first place. Be true, and set the bar for yourself… Climb high enough and others are guaranteed to take notice.

In other news we just put the wraps on our second photo shoot on saturday.  Despite the hectic scheduling, last minute changes, and uncertain variables…It was once again a wonderful experience when everything was said and done, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I really have to tip my hat to those that contributed to help out the VS Family, I love to see young individuals like ourselves come together and produce something unique together, and making new friends along the way.

I’d like to thank first and foremost my brother Carl for helping coordinate the whole shoot despite his absense ( Really WOULD NOT be able to do it without you), Marcy for her support and brainstorming ideas ( Thanks for being there, and helping filter all the bad ideas into great ones! ), Jessica D. (for coming up with THE idea for the themes in the first place, once again your genius lol), Patrick (for taking one for the team lol), Nyasho, Tamara, Xavier, and Jermaine (For being coorporative and fun pro bono models lol), and last but not least Dominic Pierre and Justin Reid for their photographic services.

Here are some photos from the shoot…

Walking Towards Tomorrow > Life and Times: April 2, 2010..

Spring Break is usually associated with wild parties and senseless fun free from the worries of school, work…basically life.  A chance for the hard working student to take a load off, take a “break”, and gear him/herself up for the second half of the semester (and in my case, the end of my college career).  However, In my case things have been nothing of the sort.  Yes I’ve taken the time to actually go out and have some fun, but with the impending thesis exhibition, anticipation around VS issue 3, and all the while maintaining good grades throughout my other classes have been weighing on mind heavily since the commencement of school.  This is how I feel….
Took this picture at my friends apartment early one morning this week.  Thinking about what we all think about…our future.  How to mold it, how to make what we want of it by taking the appropriate steps today.  I saw this quote on another blog and thought it best to share it with you.
